Challenge
In 2023 they were subject to a series of phishing attacks which were attempts to imitate their suppliers and obtain funds based on fake invoices. It became clear the method to gain this information was bots which had filled in contact forms. They imitated sales people from alternative suppliers and during this contact established who the current suppliers were. With this information to hand they were then able to perform this cyber attack.
Solution
In October 2023 Northstar implemented adCAPTCHA to their website. It was clear instantly that their website was being attacked with bots. With adCAPTCHA’s layered security these bots were blocked at source and the inbound emails dried up. Further bot attacks have been repelled but the numbers are small as adCAPTCHA is a deterrent to bot attacks.
